StoreLocal wins the prestigious SSAA Innovation Award for 2023
StoreLocal, a Queensland-based, multi-facility operator, has won the prestigious Excellence In Innovation award at the recent SSAA MEL23 Self Storage conference and trade show in Melbourne.
The annual conference was the pinnacle event in a busy Self Storage year, with over 350 storage professionals attending. This is believed to be the largest attendance number for an SSAA conference.
The Gala dinner, held on the last night of the conference, featured awards for excellence in the Self Storage Industry, including recognising the best self storage facilities for small, medium and large sites, as well as awards for community engagement, sustainability and more.
Big win for StoreLocal
Mark Greig, StoreLocal COO, accepted the award on behalf of the StoreLocal team, who are one of the leading innovators in the Self Storage industry in Australia with a combination of manned and unmanned sites.
They received the award for ‘Excellence in Innovation’ for developing the StoreLocal App and StoreLocal Kiosk, which aids customers to pick the right unit for them, move in, get support, make payments and find and access their units. This is a great example of leveraging technology to deliver a seamless customer experience in their facilities.

R6 Digital, Australia’s leading Self Storage marketing agency, were engaged by StoreLocal to support in the development of the StoreLocal Kiosk. They also supplied the technology for StorApp, which was used to develop the StoreLocal App.
StoreLocal’s Innovative Kiosk
The Virtual kiosk experience was born out of the need to provide customers with an elevated on-site interaction. Like the StoreLocal App, its design was influenced by customer feedback from focus groups, surveys, and ongoing engagement. It was clear that customers valued personalised support, even in unmanned facilities. The kiosk was envisioned as a solution to enhance the customer experience by combining technology and human connection.
With the trend toward moving to self-service in the Self Storage industry, somewhat driven by the recent pandemic, StoreLocal saw the kiosk as an opportunity to provide additional service to their Self Storage customers. Not only can the kiosk empower customers to self-serve, it was also designed to enable a two-way video call with the StoreLocal support centre team for human support when needed.
The kiosk also features a map of the facility, and the remote centre staff can direct the customer to their space in real-time and 24/7. The kiosk runs a local server with a 42” vertical touch screen featuring a QR code, allowing clients to be called back with special SIP phone communication by URL Networks. Staff can walk clients through the facility to their space!
